Craig Leffel has been a Senior Colorist based in Chicago
for over 20 years.
Starting as a dailies colorist for Chicago based companies like Backyard Productions, GKO, Story, Silent Partner and Fox WFLD, Leffel cut his teeth working on national broadcast commercials, award winning documentaries, features, short films and local tv shooting in Chicago.
While building a name as a colorist and working for Post shops like Skyview and Editel, Leffel was fortunate enough to work on many national and global brands with advertising agencies in and around the Chicagoland and Midwest region. Early on, he also dedicated quite a bit of his time to local documentary efforts, because in those times, if colorists didn’t support indie films, those films had a very hard time getting video masters made and eventually released. Leffel worked closely at the time with Chicago partners like Kartemquin Films color correcting films like “Hoop Dreams”, “Stevie” and others - as well as many, many independent filmmakers, Dp's and editors involved in creating non-mainstream film, video, and multi-media projects..
Leffel later joined Optimus as the Senior Colorist for the shop, and quickly went on to become a partner. Over the course of his time at Optimus, he continued to work on bigger and bigger brands showing on bigger stages like the Super Bowl, Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys, Grammy's, NCAA playoffs, NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL playoff series and high visibility national and global adverts viewed in Theaters, Online and during Global Broadcasts.
Nintendo, Kellogg’s, Anheuser Busch, Gatorade, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Mcdonald’s, Wrigley’s, KFC, UPS, Unilever, State Farm Insurance, American Family Insurance, Dell, Microsoft, Coors, Kraft, Mondelez, RJ Reynolds, Samsung, Comcast, ATT, Qwest, COX, Taco Bell, Long John Silvers, and many many more subsidiary brands.
Leffel continues to color correct both remotely and on-site, while maintaining his role as Executive Producer for Big Spoon Industries.
